Riverfire 2026
ADF Airforce Flyover
C-17 Globemaster III + F/A-18 F Super hornet fly over Brisbane river
Shot on Fujifilm X-T5 + 150-600mm - Range is great, but you definitely need a 2nd camera with wider lens for when the aircraft get real close to you.
AF - Initially set to Aircraft tracking, fine for the C-17. But changed to wide tracking.
F - 6.4-16 - depends on light levels on aircraft + sun
SS - A priority
ISO - A priority
Exposure compensation 0 - +.6
First time shooting aircraft so I didn't want to mess with SS or ISO while shooting. To figure out ideal settings. I had them set to A priority and burst shooting (CH). Light kept changing depending on where the aircraft were and the setting sun.
Did not have a memory card that could sustain CH, need to invest in a pair of UHS-II V90 SD cards for fast vehicles. There were several moments where i could track the F/A-18 F through EVF, but the memory cards could not handle the load.
Story Bridge Fireworks
Shot on Fujifilm X-T5 + 8-16mm
Focus - Manual and set on bridge
F - 16-22
SS - 10 - 30s
ISO - 80L
I wanted to try longer exposure, capturing multiple types of fireworks completely from "ignition" to explosion.
Turned out pretty good. Significantly less over exposed shots this year.
